Josh Malerman Gets Shushed by a Ghost

Josh Malerman Gets Shushed by a Ghost

August 24, 2020

Today’s guest is Josh Malerman, a New York Times-bestselling author, who’s debut novel, Bird Box, was the inspiration for the hit Netflix movie. His follow up to Bird Box, MALORIE, has just been published, but what we’re here for are his spooky REAL LIFE ghost stories! AND I can’t wait to tell you about the what happened at the Eloise Asylum!  PLUS Lisa Morton has an all new Ghost Report. Let’s go boo!

Josh is also, the singer/songwriter of the Detroit rock band The High Strung, Josh toured the country for six years, as the band played an average of 250 shows a year, The song "The Luck You Got" from The High Strung album Moxie Bravo is featured as the theme song to the US version of the show Shameless. and Malerman wrote many of the rough drafts for his novels in the passenger seat between cities on tour. He says this about those days: “I never saw the books with dollar signs in my eyes. It was no hobby, that’s for sure, it was the real thing and always has been, but I was happy, then, simply writing, and while I blindly assumed they’d be published one day, I had no idea how something like that occurred.”

As the pile of rough drafts grew, so did the questions as to what he was planning on doing with them.

Bird Box (2014, ECCO/HarperCollins)[17]

Black Mad Wheel (2017, ECCO/HarperCollins)

Goblin (2017, Earthling Publications)

Unbury Carol (2018, Del Rey/Penguin Random House)

On This, The Day of the Pig (2018, Cemetery Dance)

Inspection (2019, Del Rey/Penguin Random House)

Carpenter's Farm (2020, serialized on joshmalerman.com)

Malorie (2020, Del Rey/Penguin Random House)

All of Josh’s books seem to have a creepy paranormal tone to them and we are about to find out where his love for the genre began, what inspires him and of course some real life paranormal encounters.

Hey Everyone! It’s Bridget Marquardt here with a brand new episode of Ghost Magnet!

Thank you so much for listening and welcome back!!

'This week we have Cliff Simon, Cliff is a South African athlete and actor, best known for his portrayal of Ba'al in Stargate SG-1.  He competed in Olympic trials and qualified for the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.  in South Africa, Simon entered the air force where he continued his swimming and achieved the highest athletic award given in the air force, the Victor Ludorum.  After serving his two-year term in the air force, he landed a job teaching windsurfing and waterskiing at a resort hotel. As fate would have it, a stage show was in production at the resort and Simon was informed by one of the performers that the choreographer was looking for a gymnast. Simon somehow knew that this was going to be the first step towards a career on stage. Simon subsequently performed all over the world in various stage productions as a dancer/acrobat, culminating in his dream role as a performer at the world famous Moulin Rouge, Paris.

Simon pursued his stage career as an actor. Whilst studying drama, Simon secured himself a modelling agent and enjoyed success in ramp, print and television commercials. Simon received recognition as a model in South Africa and was asked to enter the Mr. South Africa talent and action man competition. On winning this competition, Simon was offered an audition on a successful television series, Egoli: Place of Gold. After guest starring on the show for three months, he accepted a permanent contract for a lead role in the show, which he continued for six years.

Arriving in 2000 in Los Angeles, Simon secured an agent, and landed a guest star role with Don Johnson on the hit TV series, Nash Bridges. A short time after that, he acquired the guest star role of Ba'al on Stargate SG-1. Cliff's combination of charming bad guy charisma and wicked sense of humor made him a viewer favorite antagonist, keeping his character recurring for six seasons. In 2008, Simon was brought back to play Ba'al in the Stargate movie Stargate: Continuum.

'Into the Unknown' is Cliffs new show which is airing on the travel channel now and has already aired the first season on History Channel in Europe under a different name, AKA 'Uncharted Mysteries'. A paranormal, investigative adventure show which suits Cliff perfectly. He is Host and Executive producer of this extraordinary show. Part survival, part mystery, part travel documentary, Cliff travelled solo across the globe, into some of the most extreme and forbidding landscapes searching for hidden clues to some of the most nightmarish myths of all time.

I can’t wait to find out what got him interested in the paranormal, what made him want to do a whole show regarding mysterious myths and what he has experienced!

Ghosts Below Zero with Sue Aikens

Ghosts Below Zero with Sue Aikens

August 10, 2020

Todays Guest is Sue Aikins.  Sue the sole resident of the Kavik river camp in Northern Alaska. The camp is located directly adjacent to the Kavik River, 197 miles North of the Arctic Circle. Her motto is "If it hurts, don't think about it.

She is the star of a TV show called Life Below Zero  which is a documentary television series which illustrates the daily and seasonal activities of subsistence hunters as they make their living in remote areas of Alaska. Produced by BBC Worldwide, the show airs on National Geographic.

The show follows people who live in the remote areas of Alaska, trying to survive in the below-zero conditions, demonstrating their everyday struggles as they hunt and depend only on themselves and survive using the resources they have.

With all of the isolation, you’d think the scariest things Sue has to worry about are weather conditions, ample food and water and wild animals…but what about ghosts and the paranormal?? Turns out there are plenty of paranormal things going on in Alaska as well, and she is going to tell us all about it!

Haunted Chateaus, Castles, Prisons and more with Dustin Pari the Paranormal Rock Star!

Haunted Chateaus, Castles, Prisons and more with Dustin Pari the Paranormal Rock Star!

August 3, 2020

Todays guest is Dustin Pari. Being on television as a paranormal investigator happened quite by accident, but there is something to be said for accidents being best described as when hard work meets opportunity.

Several seasons and years of his life later, Dustin had traveled the world like a “Paranormal Rockstar”, a moniker given to him during an interview, which was then used from that point forward since it symbolized much of who he was.

Regardless of whatever you may call him, or he may call himself, Dustin may be best known as a paranormal researcher and lecturer due to his numerous appearances on such television programs as Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, and Destination Truth.

He has journeyed up and down the road time and time again appearing here, there, and everywhere. Though a well-respected and highly regarded staple of the paranormal event and lecture circuit, Dustin also delivers his entertaining and educational paranormal presentations to colleges and libraries across America.
